President Nixon had impeachment charges against him, and he resigned before he was impeached. Gerald R. Ford becomes president, and he doesn't give South Vietnam the funds they need for the war. North Vietnam disobeys previous peace talks, and the United States does not respond with force, but diplomatic reasoning. North Vietnamese generals meet in Hanoi to discuss invasion plans. South Vietnam now has no hope and a sagging morale.
