1970
The year 1970 was during the closing years of the Vietnam War for Americans. America would later withdraw in 1973. The war was not going well for them.
It was also when Americans were excited about new landings in space, and during 1970 Apollo 13 goes on the third mission of the moon. The astronauts that were in at the time were James Lovell, John Swigert, and Fred Haise. Their oxygen ran out too fast, and they had to live off emergency rations until they could get back to earth. They all survived, after landing near Samoa.
